Choosing the right platform for a judo club's online presence is crucial for its growth and community engagement. While Facebook is a popular and versatile social network, Judo Connect offers specific advantages tailored to the needs and aspirations of judo clubs. Here are three main reasons why Judo Connect is a better choice for a judo club compared to using Facebook as their primary social network:

Another brilliant beginners, basics and fundamentals session at Miramar Judo🥋

Everyone did brilliantly working through hold down transitions and escapes before going on to combination throws.

Judokas of the night were…

Beaudon, he’s been working hard for a few weeks and it’s starting to show. 🥋

Julian, neat and tidy Judo always working hard, he’s really starting to nail some of the throws🥋

Overall winner on the night was Hannah, although quiet, she’s got some great attributes and always does the techniques to a high standard 🥋

We have space for new starters, £40 for eight sessions inclu

Last weekend our club head coach took a very big risk entering the Veterans European Championship in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This is the largest event he has done since undergoing two lots of eye surgery and being certified visually impaired. Being a VI player and competing in a mainstream event is extremely demanding. Especially at this level but he decided to give it his all. He had this to say.

“Overall, I am happy with my performance, apart from a tactical error I made in the quarter final where I lost against the current world silver medalist.

VHS memories. Gemma was as close as I ever got to recreating a second Colin Oates. As a sport we all lose so many talented players too soon. We now coach in a very different way, Eden does the hard work at the Lopham base and my input is mostly restricted to our small band of competitive fighters (that includes Eden) in the cabin. The combination is working well and we are already seeing progress. We need another Colin or Jono and I still think we can achieve one. Remember to get your entry into Felixstowe and kick start your judo.

New crash mats out of their wrapping today.

They didn't look too thick and there was a bit of grumbling with the big guys / older players wanting to use the old super thick ones.
It worked out OK though, and we could link them together in a line too so we had 5 lines not three.

Today it was a little combination to christen them with a change of direction technique. Ippon eri seoi nage to o soto gari.

Over the weekend, we welcomed North West Area Director of Examinations Pat Byrne, and Senior Examiner Simon Smith (both 6th Dans) to our club for a weekend of technical assessments. As Chris’s former coaches and friends of Richard, it had extra significance that they were able to visit the club and see how it was getting on.

The examinations were stringent, and involved knowledge of individual techniques, combinations, counters and katas. We are pleased that our brown belts, Sean, Paul and Nathan, all passed their Dan Grade theory, whilst Chris and Errol also progressed with completing the te

Last night, Kites soared into an exhilarating boxing evening, led by the seasoned boxer and coach, Luke Shears.

With patience and precision, he guided the children through fundamental moves, eliciting laughter and determination as they honed their newfound skills. But, this wasn’t just about punches and combinations; they delved into thrilling team games, igniting laughter and cheers from everyone. From relay races to agility challenges, our young fighters and staff gave their all!

As the adrenaline subsided, the children retreated to the Boarding House for toasty delight and a well-deserved

We've teamed up with MyResonance to launch Uchikomi for good.

The more uchikomi we do from now until 10 December 2020, the more money we'll donate to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

You can do shadow uchikomi (on your own), with an uchikomi band, or volunteer a partner, housemate, parent or sibling to be on the receiving end.

We recommend a forward throw e.g. seoi-nage. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, then why not try a few combinations?

Who's in?

A good warmup including stretching and the ever improving cartwheels! for the juniors. The main session was a continuation from last week, working on Ouchi Gari again with emphasis on foot action and making a good circular motion. They practiced individually and then with partners with some very good results showing through. Then they moved on to a combination of Ouchi Gari and Kouchi Gari again with some good results. There was then a round robin of Newaza and a final game of dodgeball before being tested on the names of the techniques they had been practicing.

As part of their warmup the junior session started with some relay races including exercises then their breakfalls before finishing with cartwheels. For their technical element Ippon seoi Nage was demonstrated, initially from a kneeling position with emphasis on where the arm is placed and on the pulling and rotation forces. After some practice this was then progressed a standing position using safety mats for the landings. Further progression was made making a combination with Seoi toshi. The older players practiced to left and right whilst the younger players concentrated on good position an
