Choosing the right platform for a judo club's online presence is crucial for its growth and community engagement. While Facebook is a popular and versatile social network, Judo Connect offers specific advantages tailored to the needs and aspirations of judo clubs. Here are three main reasons why Judo Connect is a better choice for a judo club compared to using Facebook as their primary social network:

Last night, Kites soared into an exhilarating boxing evening, led by the seasoned boxer and coach, Luke Shears.

With patience and precision, he guided the children through fundamental moves, eliciting laughter and determination as they honed their newfound skills. But, this wasn’t just about punches and combinations; they delved into thrilling team games, igniting laughter and cheers from everyone. From relay races to agility challenges, our young fighters and staff gave their all!

As the adrenaline subsided, the children retreated to the Boarding House for toasty delight and a well-deserved

We've teamed up with MyResonance to launch Uchikomi for good.

The more uchikomi we do from now until 10 December 2020, the more money we'll donate to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

You can do shadow uchikomi (on your own), with an uchikomi band, or volunteer a partner, housemate, parent or sibling to be on the receiving end.

We recommend a forward throw e.g. seoi-nage. Or if you’re feeling adventurous, then why not try a few combinations?

Who's in?

New crash mats out of their wrapping today.

They didn't look too thick and there was a bit of grumbling with the big guys / older players wanting to use the old super thick ones.
It worked out OK though, and we could link them together in a line too so we had 5 lines not three.

Today it was a little combination to christen them with a change of direction technique. Ippon eri seoi nage to o soto gari.

A good warmup including stretching and the ever improving cartwheels! for the juniors. The main session was a continuation from last week, working on Ouchi Gari again with emphasis on foot action and making a good circular motion. They practiced individually and then with partners with some very good results showing through. Then they moved on to a combination of Ouchi Gari and Kouchi Gari again with some good results. There was then a round robin of Newaza and a final game of dodgeball before being tested on the names of the techniques they had been practicing.

As part of their warmup the junior session started with some relay races including exercises then their breakfalls before finishing with cartwheels. For their technical element Ippon seoi Nage was demonstrated, initially from a kneeling position with emphasis on where the arm is placed and on the pulling and rotation forces. After some practice this was then progressed a standing position using safety mats for the landings. Further progression was made making a combination with Seoi toshi. The older players practiced to left and right whilst the younger players concentrated on good position an

The junior session started with some relay races followed by stretching, breakfalls and cartwheels, it’s good to see their confidence in this activity improving. This evening was a continuation from last week, working on Ippon Seoi Nage and Seoi toshi. After some time working with these two throws individually and then as a combination the juniors were then introduced to Kami shiho gatame. This was then used in conjunction with the two throws as transition into Osaekomi waza (ground work). As last week the older players practiced to the left and right with the younger ones working on their tec

The juniors started their session with warmup exercises, stretches and balance exercises. This was followed with their breakfalls and finally some cartwheels which they are getting more confident at. The session was a follow on from last week working with Ippon Seoi Nage and Seoi Toshi. Each technique was practiced individually and then as a combination. The safety mats were used to help ease the impact of the continual landings. The younger players concentrated on the throws using their dominant grips whilst the older players practiced both left and right hand. They finished off their sessio

February is here with a great start to month.

Our Judo kids are continuing to learn fundamental principles for Judo basics as well as loads of games and fun.

Our Juniors are learning to pair techniques together with combinations and counters once the techniques is learnt and practice... .and yes timing is the hard part..

Our Seniors had a good session with some ground work turnovers and combinations.
To attack from bottom position on the ground is very important...

Great work for all who came and participated.

Thank you Adam and Sam for your help this evening.

After our momentous 82nd anniversary last Friday we started the week with renewed energy and purpose and had ourselves a fantastic evening! 🔥

Our kids class is growing weekly and the children were treated to a mix of technical, contests and games! Crab football was this week's choice of game and the players all gave 110% effort! 🙌

The adults session was busy as usual with a mix of competitive Ne Waza technical, basic throws and using them to create combinations and of course randori rounds for the players to test themselves! 💪

We were also fortunate to have Dave (5th Dan) lending his valuab

The summer holidays are now with us and the number of members attending the club on Saturdays are always low at this time of year.
We have decided to make tomorrow Saturday the 9th the last session for the summer break.
Commencing back on Saturday the 20th of August.
I have been chasing Judo Scotland for approval of the latest grading, however they have not yet processed the grading sheet due to a combination of Covid absence and now the Edinburgh holiday which means the certificates and grading awards will be on our return on the 20th.
Would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your
