So DJC has been working with CheckMat Plymouth BJJ for a little bit now and we are starting to see some really good Judo players emerging, balancing the 2 (Judo & BJJ) can be very tricky to start with but the progress has been wonderful

This past weekend Jade competed for the first time.

She secured Gold in her category winning all of her contests.

She was invited to compete in the higher division. Jade met a girl 8 grades higher. Jade won that category claiming two Gold medals in one day.

The day was made extra special as it was shared with her grandpops 81st birthday.

Last night, Kites soared into an exhilarating boxing evening, led by the seasoned boxer and coach, Luke Shears.

With patience and precision, he guided the children through fundamental moves, eliciting laughter and determination as they honed their newfound skills. But, this wasn’t just about punches and combinations; they delved into thrilling team games, igniting laughter and cheers from everyone. From relay races to agility challenges, our young fighters and staff gave their all!

We give out the awards in January for the previous year, however Dan got injured literally the session before and has been out rehabbing since! We’re glad he’s fully healed and looking forward to seeing him more regularly!

Just want to say a huge well done to Jon stepping up 1st kyu for his first events - taking 20 points and a bronze in the competition following up with a well deserved 40 in the grading.... Equates to 60 points towards his 1st Dan.... Very proud of this young man -

Callum also stepped into the adult level of judo being only 16, he also should be extremely proud of his achievement in the competition by coming away with a silver medal.

As a coach these two young men are the reason why us coaches give our time every week, extremely proud to see them develop over the years and they still have

Brilliant randori class tonight from the various age groups. The club made a structure change at the beginning of the year and I am not seeing areas coming together . Randori is hard , uncomfortable and we all react differently. The club is moving in the right direction.
