Fantastic day at the Shizentai Rumble today! A brilliant well organised event with a great atmosphere, and with excellent judo on display at all ages.

With a few dropouts due to illness, in the end we had a squad of 42 take part. We had all age groups represented, from 6 year old Dragons, right up to a couple of 35+ Tortoises 👍

Everyone put in a lot of hard work & determination with some great techniques on display.

It was a long but rewarding day for some of our senior Shia Squad at the Kent International Judo Championships 2024 which was held at Medway Park Sports Centre at the end of June ! 🥋🥋🥋🥋

Bekzat took part in both the Masters and Senior groups while both Daisy and Yonas took part in the Junior and Senior groups ! Simeon was unable to enter himself but made the journey as warm up partner and assistant coach.

It was a long day with plenty of high level contests for all - with great displays of determination and judo skill along with some convincing ippon scores ! 🥳

Congratulations to Christina Karas for being awarded the Judo Alberta Comeback Athlete of the Year. At the 2023 Quebec Open Christina suffered a broken collar bone; this was a special injury in which the ER doctor said that “we only normally see this type of injury when a person has been in a car accident”. Throughout that time in the hospital and during her long recovery Christina showed determination, strength and displayed a positive attitude.
