Congratulations to cousins Matty (WJC Nork/Banstead) and Daniel (WJC Carshalton) on their success's representing England at the Commonwealth Tournament in Malta. Taking a bronze for Matty in the under 100 kilos and a Silver for Daniel in the Plus 100 kilos.

The red and yellow belts in the club have been busy the past few weeks as well as a couple of the mid grades.
We have really enjoyed going to the Sussex Red and Yellow Belt Invitation, Surrey U12s Mini Mon and Surrey Open Championships and Samurai Sam.

We always encourage the junior members to get involved in the wider aspects of Judo be it volunteering, officiating or just helping at the club. Currently we have two amazing juniors who are now qualified officials. They are both being invited to help at lots of events including some of the bigger ones. This make us so proud and is also fantastic experience for them (looks great on a CV or Uni application too). We look forward to expanding their officials/referees qualifications and seeing them at more events in the future. Great work Millie and Isaac !

Congratulations to Matty on a well-earned 5th place in his international debut at the European Senior Cup in Gaia, Portugal. He proved himself internationally with a fantastic ippon win and later fought for a bronze medal. Although no medal this time he did gain European and domestic ranking points. This weekend we were very excited to learn the black belt theory starting with kata. These young judokas have been accumulating competition points and are now looking to have the theory signed off ready for achieving their 1st Dans. We wish them good luck!

We are so proud of Ella, she has demonstrated that if you want something work hard and make it happen. We remember her age 6 telling us she would get her black belt. 11 years later she achieved her goal !
Ella has had a great journey along the way, with British schools and Kent medals through to REDs selection and now as a junior is on the senior ranking list. Her determination and no quit attitude has been inspiring. Ella plans to continue this journey into university and beyond. Well done Ella !

Romain started judo age 9 and has many successes along the way, from starting with Surrey Youth Games for Epsom and Ewell to medals at The British schools Champs and training with REDs (Regional England Development Squad).
Romain completed his theory element well then fought in the seniors (men's) section to gain ten maximum score wins to complete the contest element. This is hard going at 16/17 and in the lightest weigh group. He competed against heavier

Earlier this month we hosted our first BJA level 1 invitation event. This was for red belts with little contest experience. Lots of children entered and lots of medals won. All in all a good experience for everyone.
