Firstly we must welcome Mark back to the club. He has been absent for a while with some ‘dodgy mechanics!’ but fortunately all seems to be well now. You will have to go steady for a while to make sure everything works as it should!!
After their warmup, exercises, stretches, breakfalls and cartwheels the juniors were split into two groups, the older players went off to practice Uchi mata whilst the younger ones went back to the beginning with Osoto Otoshi. Both groups came back together with a round robin of randori and Newaza before the the session with a game of dodgeball.

Xavière, Neil and Kirsty kicked off our competitions for the year at the Scottish Open, an amazing opportunity getting to compete against international fighters from as far afield as 🇺🇸 and 🇯🇵

Xav managed to come away with a bronze medal- a brilliant performance with wins in both tachiwaza (standing) and newaza (groundwork) 💪 We are so proud of you ❤️

Well done to Oscar who fought at the Keizoku event in Ravenscraig. The event is aimed at Judoka looking to take a step outside of the club to competition.

He did fantastically well in his first competition managing to win 2 fights, gaining a lot of experience and mat time. Oscar showed great judo, throwing both left and right as well as showing off his newaza skills in the matches. Well done Oscar! Well deserved medal for your hard work.

The Scottish All Stars Championships were held at Ravenscraig today. We had several players competing, some at their first competition! This event is a development event maximising the time each player has on the mat. This resulted in all players showing off their great judo skills in tachiwaza and newaza by scoring ippon! The coaches are very proud of everyone's effort today. Although the focus is on players skill development there were well earned medals to take home. Well done all!

Yesterday was the first of our Summer Holiday Courses. Everyone had an exhausting but fun time. Below is a couple of pics of a few trying out their newaza invention challenge.
