ELY DOJO @ STRETHAM FEAST
We are super excited to be taking a small team to Stretham Feast on Sunday to showcase our dojo and our members skills !🥳
We will be running a demonstration as one of the groups in the arena at around 3.30pm - and we will have a gazebo set up all afternoon where people can find out more about the benefits of Judo and Ely Dojo !! 🥋😎

MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS !!!! To all our dojo family that headed over to Thetford for the East Anglian ‘Fours’ Judo Championships at Thetford !
We had over 18 Entries across all the groups - 8-12 years, 12-15 years, Seniors 15 years + and Masters 35 years + 🥋🥋🥋🥋
Club President Ray Taylor was also on the mats all day as a senior referee 🥋

A TOUGH DAY of judo contest at the Eastern Area Ranking Open today at Thetford 🥋😎
Daisy and Yonas both entered the Junior and Senior sections and showed some really strong and determined contest judo between them. Yonas was awarded with a bronze medal in the juniors for his efforts and Daisy took the silver in the juniors and a silver in the seniors ! 🥉🥈🥈🥋🥋
It was great to see them step into this level of event where judoka are awarded national ranking points for winning positions in their groups and they both managed well with the skilled and experienced opponents they faced in contest - A

SIMPLY AMAZING ! Ely Dojo senior member Brian Jones has recently returned from a trip to South Africa where he completed The Cape Town Cycle Tour !! 🚴🎖
Brian completed the 109km cycle which includes five mountain climbs in an amazing 8 hours and 3 minutes - crossing the line ahead of just over 1000 other riders ! 🥳

AWESOME performance from Ben at the Malaga European Cup last weekend !!🏆
Ben defeated opponents from Kuwait and Spain with some high quality contest judo that was fast and strong. Unfortunately because of the contest draw Ben had to compete with Camberley teammate Finn, who had also found his way into the group final with his impressive contest judo. After a tough contest that went overtime and into golden score Finn took the win. 🥋🥋
Ben then won another contest in the repechage against a tough Spanish judoka before losing out against another Spanish player in the very last seconds of the co

It was all about being part of the dojo team for our ‘Shia Squad’ who entered the Eastern Area Closed Judo Championship yesterday at Thetford.🙂
We had 13 members in the team representing the dojo and each one of them did an amazing job on the contest mats – with outstanding displays of judo skills, courage, etiquette and sportsmanship – and supporting each other as a team.🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋
In the senior group our members did not shy away from taking on much more experienced and higher graded opponents and shared some fantastic ippon wins. 😎🥋🔥

The Ely Dojo BJJ Team were back on the tatami this weekend with the UMAC BJJ Open in Milton Keynes.
Lory was looking to improve on his performance earlier in the year whilst Matt was stepping up to the challenge of his first BJJ Competition. Coach Jordan was running around the mats providing the coaching assistance.
First up to the mat was Lory who secured a very quick submission victory in his first match, followed by a dominant performance of passing and positional control to win his second and secure a place in the final. He was unfortunate to miss out on gold after losing to a very talen

We are pleased to have Jefferson Fagundes back in the dojo this Friday!
Jeffe last visited the dojo as a brown belt fresh off his AJP World Championship win. Since then he has been promoted to black belt by his professor Cicero Costha and has made a great impact on the competition circuit at the highest level, including a podium at the Mundial IBJJF, one of the most prestigious event in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
This will be an awesome class and we are happy to see Jefferson return. 🥋

It was a FANTASTIC day of judo at the last Dojo Takeover when we moved in to the Willow Studio @ Fresh and ran a mini judo festival for some of our junior membership ! 🥳
It is always great fun to use the extra space and get different classes together at the Dojo Takeovers - and last Sunday as part of the festival we ran some judo contests amongst the members under the watchful eye of senior coach Ray Taylor Sensei🥋
Our members competed as small teams - including Team Shrek, Team Champions and The Jedi Knights - and each team were awarded either Gold, Silver or Bronze medals for their efforts

It was a great weekend of judo learning for two Ely Dojo members at the National Judo Kata Course 2023 ! 🥋
Stuart and Yonas attended the two days of judo learning at the Army School of Physical Training in Aldershot. The course was led by Yoshihiko Iura Sensei, a Japanese Kodokan 8th Dan and official Shidoin. 🥋😎
