Busy Kids class for the summer holidays!
We've received some last minute entries to our Olympic Art Competition and so entries are now closed and the winners will be announced next Monday! Best of luck to all of the children who entered! 🙌

In our Adults class we had five Dan grades in attendance! Lots of valuable experience on the mat helping out our Kyu grades with their progression! Lots of technical mixed with randori, everyone will sleep well tonight! 😜

Outstanding effort from the boys! Some great judo, some cracking ippon wins, and some fantastic experience gained at this well run event. Jacob claimed silver with some spirited judo drawing crowd applause with his final opponent as they battled in golden score and showed great heart

It was good to see the progression and that even though they sit playing with belts, picking their ears and waving to their parents during practices, some things being taught really are getting absorb

Following on from our newsletter, club progression is a big part of our plan at Nokemono, to help train and educate our students. If anyone would like to attend this referee course please either book a place or contact me to book a place. The more the merrier I aim to get at least 10 students to this course.

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

A great day yesterday for the club at the first Grand Prix event of the year in Clyde. We had Liam, Filip and Alessandro competing and I am extremely proud of all their attitudes, attacking judo and fighting spirit.
Liam came a hard-fought 5th place with 2 ippon wins (one in 6 seconds) and Alessandro left with more valuable points towards his 1st dan, experience and further proof that his journey towards 1st dan is gathering steam. They both showed maturity in their Judo and huge technical progression.
The star of the show though was young Filip. Fighting his first competition since a horror

Senior gradings still ongoing but gradually getting through them with some great progressions, will have lots of new belts

As part of their warmup the junior session started with some relay races including exercises then their breakfalls before finishing with cartwheels. For their technical element Ippon seoi Nage was demonstrated, initially from a kneeling position with emphasis on where the arm is placed and on the pulling and rotation forces. After some practice this was then progressed a standing position using safety mats for the landings. Further progression was made making a combination with Seoi toshi. Progression was made from both boys today from there last competition in different areas .

This level is about putting yourself out there, over coming nerves, socialising or speaking to other players, understanding judo rules and the referee’s, officals . Winning is important to the children but for the club the bigger picture is building on experience and what we need to do to make you better as a judoka and a person .
