4 years ago this weekend, I was introduced to Michihiro Omigawa online as we were both trying our hardest to keep judo alive throughout covid. We had our first zoom session from his dojo in japan. In the past 4 years, our club have trained at Neo dojo on our last tour in 2023 , my family have spent time with him in April of this year in Yokohama and he is now in Scotland at our dojo, sharing the same passion for judo. Some good things have come out of the covid years, namely friendships.

Places are starting to go for the upcoming masterclass with Omigawa sensei on 19th May in Aberdeen. whilst we still have spaces in the children's sessions, the session for 13 years plus (including adults) has only a few spaces left. Book in today to avoid disappointment.

A great day yesterday for the club at the first Grand Prix event of the year in Clyde. We had Liam, Filip and Alessandro competing and I am extremely proud of all their attitudes, attacking judo and fighting spirit.
Liam came a hard-fought 5th place with 2 ippon wins (one in 6 seconds) and Alessandro left with more valuable points towards his 1st dan, experience and further proof that his journey towards 1st dan is gathering steam. They both showed maturity in their Judo and huge technical progression.
The star of the show though was young Filip. Fighting his first competition since a horror

good luck to all our members and friends who are sitting exams, go in as prepared as you can be and with confidence in yourself.
Remember, exams are just a part of your academic study but do not define your future. Once the exam is over, you can not change the outcome, so don't stress, concentrate on what's next with a positive attitude. Control the controllables.

Ultimate Judo would like to congratulate Ole Bischof for his recent promotion to 6th Dan. Ole is, without a doubt, a legend of our sport with Olympic gold and silver and multiple tour medals including European titles. Many of our members will remember fondly his seminars in Scotland in 2018 and 2019. congrats Champ.

We are excited for today's party. Please remember to wear normal clothes, not your judo suits. As well as the party, we have The Grampian Type 1 Diabetes Family Support Group selling some festive crafts to support their charity and one of our students Josh (aged 7) has very kindly offered to sell his recently published children's book with all profits going to AberNecessities, our chosen charity. The book is nothing short of amazing, a published author at 7 years of age, judo superstar and such an amazing young boy. Please support where possible.

Huge thank you to everyone who made our Christmas parties on Sunday. I am pleased to announce that we raised the following for local charities:
£200 donated to Abernecessities.
The Grampian Type 1 Diabetes Family Support Group raised an incredible £130.10
Josh and his book have sent the £52 from book sales on the day plus his first book royalties to Abernecessities.
This money will go a long way to help people who need it most in Aberdeen so thank you all for your generosity. We will fundraise more for our charities throughout 2024.

The book is a collaboration between martial artists from different backgrounds, arts, cultures and experiences reflecting on Budo in the real world.

Thursday 18th January 2024 - We are open
tonight's judo sessions at Granville Place Lane, Mannofield will be on as normal however, we ask members to attend only if they can get to and from the venue safely. I have not seen the lane yet however I know it won't be gritted so would suggest parking the cars on the main road and walking around where possible.
Any child or adult early for sessions, please do not wait outside, come in and use one of the 2 rooms on the right-hand side to stay warm and dry. I will be along early to ensure the heating is on and hall is warm for your arrival.
Anyone w

Very proud to be Scotland’s first club to achieve judo mark 2024. We would encourage all clubs to get involved, it was a very positive experience and has helped the club operate and grow.
