Congratulations to our players of the night from Monday night. Along with our tiger of the month from July!

They all had such a good session and worked hard throughout the entire night!

Don't forget we are still open except for the 26th August which is a bank holiday.

With the school summer holiday fast approaching we wanted to share our revised summer Saturday session times.

From Saturday 27th July to Saturday 24th August,

All juniors are to attend at 10am.
All seniors are to attend at 11am.

Please note there will be no Judo on Saturday 31st august as the sports centre have asked us to close for the hop festival.

Normal sessions will resume on Saturday 7th September.

Urgent Club Announcement

For the month of August the club will only be running one night per week but will host 3 different sessions per night.

As a result in August all sessions will be on a Tuesday evening.

6pm-7pm Kids
7pm-8pm Juniors
8pm-9pm Seniors (all levels)

This is only for the month of August while numbers are lower due to coaches, kids, families, all being away on holiday at different times.

For the purpose of clarity normal classes are still running on:

Monday 29th July
Tuesday 30th July
Wednesday 31st July

As soon as we hit AUGUST all sessions will be on a Tuesday at the

Tomorrow’s judo sessions in Belton will be combined for this week only (so 5pm-6pm instead) because I need to pick Ryan up from Heathrow later on in the evening and I was thinking it was Stansted 🤦🏻. Peter is off on holiday tomorrow so is unavailable too. It should work okay because it tends to be slightly quieter during holiday periods anyway, but if we do have a large number on the mat we will obviously keep the smaller ones safe alongside the seniors.

Apologies for the short notice. It’s my fault for not thinking ahead, but hopefully it isn’t a major issue for anyone.

16 ladies (and 1 male coach 😂) on the ladies only session tonight. And again loads of regular faces off on their holidays! Gonna be awesome in September when everyone is back.

Sometimes it takes someone to remind you, how lucky you are. Bill Sargent Jnr pointed out that we really have an amazing diversity of players at our club. I have to agree as here is a regular night training over the summer holiday time when many clubs close, with Veterans, Adaptive, National, Visitors, Juniors, Advanced and Beginners. Not forgetting our players as young as 14 wanting to join the senior practise. Well done all, us coaches are very proud to inspire all corners of the judo community AND MOST OF ALL proud to have you.

Summer holidays are now in full swing and the club will be closing to allow players and coaches time to enjoy and recharge their batteries.
Our last Friday session will be 2nd August and our last Monday session will be 5th August, all sessions will be back to normal on Friday 30th August.
Enjoy this time off with friends and family and again thankyou for your support on and off the mat. 🥋☀️

Next Tuesday and Thursday will be the last sessions before we break for the summer holiday and will return in September. Will post the return dates following on next week.

For some of the bigger, older children that may want to continue through summer are more than welcome to do the advanced/ Senior session during that time. If you are unsure whether it would be suitable to join those sessions, please feel free to ask one of the coaches.

Last night saw the start of our summer timings for training.
Slightly longer sessions for both juniors & seniors.

Thanks to all you made the continued effort to attend training, even though most have begun the school holidays now.

We are opening for the same session timings next week (juniors: 6-7.15, seniors: 7.30-9), then the following 2 weeks (6th & 13th Aug) we’re closed.

Super Soft play Saturday for the next two weeks at the Dojo Café, Thorpe Green!

During the summer holiday's, we will open the unsupervised soft play for children aged 1-4 years old. Admission is £7 per child.
Accompanying older siblings (aged 5-9 years) will be able to do a free art class - this Saturday is stone painting, from 10am to 1130am!

The café is also open from 09:00 to 13:00 on Saturday, for dog walkers, cyclists and users of Thorpe Green and Virginia Water...

Fantastic turn out last night to see Max off to university.

Always ready to lend a hand, he'll be missed at the club, although assures us he'll be back in the holidays!

We've received some last minute entries to our Olympic Art Competition and so entries are now closed and the winners will be announced next Monday! Best of luck to all of the children who entered! 🙌

In our Adults class we had five Dan grades in attendance! Lots of valuable experience on the mat helping out our Kyu grades with their progression! Lots of technical mixed with randori, everyone will sleep well tonight! 😜
