Congratulations to Mich who completed his line up today, earning him his black belt! Mich had 5 fights and won them all by Ippon 💪🏼 ✔️🥋

Mich joined us from Cameroon through our University Judo club and has made outstanding progress since January.

Geraldine, another member from our Teesside University Judo club, also competed today. She won 4, lost 1 and drew 1, taking her to a total of 80 Dan grade points.

Mary fought really well despite being just 15, earning herself some dan grading points, however, picked up an injury. Speedy recovery Mary!

Huge congratulations to Dan eltorero1979 on his (belated) award for runner up in the Adult Improvement of the Year.

We give out the awards in January for the previous year, however Dan got injured literally the session before and has been out rehabbing since! We’re glad he’s fully healed and looking forward to seeing him more regularly!

Every judo players journey begins with steping onto the mat and for this lot is started at the end of in January.
We run an introduction to judo on a Sunday and from the shy bunch that they mostly were have stuck with it have grown over the past weeks into happy little tigers on the mat. A few wanted a match with our Neeson so he happy obliged 😀
Some have just passed there first Grading either Mon or Kia so as this was our last session we had some fun matches and a little team battle at the end kia v mons.
Kias came away with the victory of the older mons 😉 #injudowetrust

Hi everyone, the last session this year will be on the 18th it will be a combined, fun session for all ages and all grades from 6pm to 8pm, parents are welcome to join in in the fun and game as well.

From 8pm to 9pm we plan to do an hour of Self Defence training for the older kids and adults, parents are also welcome to join us for this.

We will then start back classes on the 8th of January.

Happy New Year everyone!

The two biggest competitions of the academic year are fast approaching: The Scottish Student Championships (SSS) on 3rd/4th Feb and the British University Championships (BUCS) on 17th/18th Feb.

With this in mind the coaches and committee have decided to make the Thursday later session a competition prep session for the 5 weeks leading up to these events.

These sessions will include gripping strategies, situational randori and judo-specific cardio, and will start on *18th January*. They will be aimed at orange belt and above, but will be ope

10 years ago Don Werner passed away at 1:08am 9th January. It is a strange thought that many of the current members of Pinewood didn't meet him. I think and hope he would be pleased to see the flame he lit still burns brightly.

Last session for our first 2 classes and it was party time. No pics available because what happens at the Par Christmas Party stays at the Par Christmas Party!! 😉😆

It did also mark the end of a week of torture for all of the kids as Steve had graded them all last week and made them wait all that time to find out if they’d passed!! Such a cruel coach!! 🤣🤣

Last senior session is next week and then we’re done until 9th January.

This is an event that all judoka should attend to prepare for the New Year. The sessions will begin at 10:30 am, and check-in will open at 10 am. Our last judo session for this year will be on Wednesday 20th December 2023 and we will be returning on Monday 8th January 2024. So holiday dates are 21st December - 7th January.

Those who will be missing 3 sessions as opposed to 2 are welcome to double up anytime to make up the extra session.
