I'm from Shawnee, Kansas. I did wrestling in high school, and after discovering the art of judo I ended up joining Hollywood Dojo during the pandemic, when we were practicing in a park. Judo is for me a lifestyle, tied into our community. it infuses values and principles. I have made lifelong friendships at the dojo. February is here with a great start to month.
Our Judo kids are continuing to learn fundamental principles for Judo basics as well as loads of games and fun.
Our Juniors are learning to pair techniques together with combinations and counters once the techniques is learnt and practice... .and yes timing is the hard part..
Our Seniors had a good session with some ground work turnovers and combinations.
To attack from bottom position on the ground is very important...
Great work for all who came and participated.
Thank you Adam and Sam for your help this evening.

The first principle means using your opponent’s force to your advantage, instead of fighting it directly. The second principle means respecting yourself and others, and helping each other grow. Judo also teaches you how to use different techniques such as throws, pins, joint locks, and chokes to defeat your opponent in a safe and controlled way.
