Choosing the right platform for a judo club's online presence is crucial for its growth and community engagement. While Facebook is a popular and versatile social network, Judo Connect offers specific advantages tailored to the needs and aspirations of judo clubs. Here are three main reasons why Judo Connect is a better choice for a judo club compared to using Facebook as their primary social network:

Another brilliant beginners, basics and fundamentals session at Miramar Judo🥋

Everyone did brilliantly working through hold down transitions and escapes before going on to combination throws.

Judokas of the night were…

Beaudon, he’s been working hard for a few weeks and it’s starting to show. 🥋

Julian, neat and tidy Judo always working hard, he’s really starting to nail some of the throws🥋

Overall winner on the night was Hannah, although quiet, she’s got some great attributes and always does the techniques to a high standard 🥋

We have space for new starters, £40 for eight sessions inclu

Our beginners, basics and fundamentals class had a big challenge this week as we were looking at Guruma techniques across all our sessions.

They did amazingly well with some tricky throws, so much so that we had to increase our stars of the week! Everyone could have been selected but on the night Hannah, Nancy, Beaudon and Reuben stood out a little more with Reuben getting the overall star.

You can join us from as little as £5 per session or take advantage of our beginner package £40 for 8 sessions and a brand new Gi 🥋

Starting in September we will extend our beginner class to Monday even

2024 Western Area Open

On Saturday 20th July our lone wolf George headed up to Bath to compete in the Western Area Open.
Competing in the Cadet U60kg category, George had a bye in the first round & then won his quarter final with two different throws, each scoring wazari. Unfortunately, in the semi final he was held down by the eventual gold medallist & so dropped into the Bronze medal match. In this contest George got back to winning ways, once again winning with another two throws, each scoring wazari to take a well deserved Bronze.
Well done George, it's great to have an IJC player medall

The countdown to Paris is on,

and we couldn't be more thrilled! Who wants a fantastic booklet that lets your young judoka track the medal winners and answer fun questions every day?

This booklet is packed with prompts to get them thinking and learning:
• Can they spot different throws?
• What was their favorite contest of the day?
• Who was the champion that impressed them the most and why?

There's also space to record all the action:
• Fill out the names of the eight medal winners each day
• Write down their thoughts on the day’s judo

Huge thanks to Koka Kids Junior Judo Magazine fo

Great Judo this evening.

Well done to all our Judoka who came this evening.

Our first session focused on grips and specifics on throw to hold.

Our Juniors focused on similar as our Judo kids with variations.

Our Seniors focused on the same with a higher pace learning to commit 100% to throws and have an offensive attack.

🥋 Embracing Judo Etiquette 🥋

Judo isn’t just about throws and pins; it’s a martial art grounded in respect, courtesy, and discipline. Here are some essential Judo etiquette principles we uphold on and off the mat:

1️⃣ Bow with Respect: The traditional bow (rei) signifies respect for your sensei, training partners, and the art itself. It’s a silent gesture of gratitude and honor.

2️⃣ Cleanliness is Key: Keep your gi (uniform) and yourself clean. For example, wash your gi regularly and keep your nails cut. It’s a sign of respect for your fellow Judoka and the dojo environment.

⛩ With closed roads and heavy traffic it’s been a quieter than usual tue/thurs on the mat this week.

🔻It was a kuzushi focused Thursday on the mat with the juniors and seniors this week. Building tempo, rhythm and speed. We have also worked on Action>Reaction developing forward and backward throws.

Well done all. See you back on the mat for some weekend fun. 👍🏻

Brilliant effort from all of our seniors on Friday, covering Sangaku Jime and a driving O Uchi Gari (with the aid of the crash mats so we could really finish those throws off 😆)

See you all again next Friday where we will be starting to work on some theory with the intention of getting some Gradings done 😁👍
