I am deeply humbled to have coached three amazing people at my first ever and theirs, European Judo Union Tournament, held in Swansea.

For each of them it meant overcoming certain challenges as they have mixed needs, such as Down syndrome, visual impairments, Autism, and ADHD.

Beanie and Isaac, are our seasoned competitors, travelled along with Georgina, who likes to compete but not as often. Each of them demonstrated extraordinary resilience and dedication.

At just 12 years old, Isaac is a classic example of how incredible achievements are possible

Joe has been involved in Judo for 75+ years where he has coached 1000s of children and adults. In this time he has produced numerous national and international champions, he has had incredible success as Northern Area Coach, winning the National Teams Championships on multiple occasions and even had the honour of being a GB Junior support coach. I once received an award from the BJA that I refused to accept, a close friend once wanted to nominate me for a red and white belt that I never ever wanted anyway, frankly all I ever want to do was teach and help children and promote judo.
The past 6 months I have had the opportunity to coach at Wortham Primary School in Suffolk. As the years roll by it does not get any easier to coach however, I yet again experienced children and indeed the staff at the school that make it all worthwhile.
