A busy week or so of competitions and hard grafting was finished off nicely with lots of new coloured belts on the mat. Our grading weekend, and after a few extra grades given out, totaled 67 new U8, Mon and Kyu grades awarded across all our classes.
Lots of new beginners have started recently, so looking forward to bringing through the next generation of Wirral Judoka.

Massive congratulations to Jake and Joe, who were only graded to 1st Kyu in July, both won their line ups today to achieve the goal of 'Black Belt'.🥋

A great big well done to Sharon who had 6 tough fights against higher grades. No points today, but she is getting better every time she steps on the mat. The points will come and the new belt with it.

Last session before the summer break and we have a record 34 new grades after two weeks of gradings and relentless practice throughout the year. Always good to see some more colours and stripes on the mats. Great work all.

A very energetic session tonight at the club. 5 Dan grades on the mat including Clément, from our French sister club, Mayenne Judo Club. Tonight's two hour session was learning a few "Old School" techniques along with plenty of newaza and tachi-waza. It was also nice to see Jemima back on the mat after a few years away.

In our Adults class we had five Dan grades in attendance! Lots of valuable experience on the mat helping out our Kyu grades with their progression! Lots of technical mixed with randori, everyone will sleep well tonight! 😜

I know the music is soppy, but honestly these boys are a credit to themselves. Michal, Bill, Will, Tom, Beanie, Michael, and Joe all stepped up and walked away with a haul of medals, and heads held high.

Their camaraderie is incredible - going toe-to-toe and then cheering each other on from the sidelines.

Well done to our 4 players who went to Nottingham today. Ahsan fought very well and came away with a bronze, Jake also came away with a bronze fighting against higher grades.
Ross won one contest, but was against the odds as he was fighting brown belts and Dan grades. Jack was also against the odds despite him winning three contest , he was also.competing again much higher grades etc; 1st kyu’s and Dan grades.

Last night we were incredibly proud and honoured to be able to present Livvy with her Dan grade.
These grades are only achieved with years of hard work, dedication and perseverance and it's fantastic to see our athletes achieve their goals.

Just a quick reminder that the Monday night sessions are now a 2hr session rather than a 1.5hr session. Make sure you bring a drink because it'll probably be warm.

Monday: 6.30pm to 8.30pm - 10 years to senior, all grades welcome

Friday: 1st Session 6pm to 7.15pm 5yr to 10yrs
2nd session 7.30pm to 9pm 10yr to 16yrs

We've got a busy time ahead of us this week. Tomorrow is the 10yr to senior session - 6.30pm until 8.30pm (all grades welcome).

Friday night, however, during the second session (7.30pm to 9pm) we have not one but two Paralympian judoka who will both be be going to the Paris Paralympics at the end of the month! Devizes Budo Club's very own Evan Molloy and USA Paralympian Liana Mutia will both be attending and getting on the mat. Please do your very best to be at the club on Friday and give both Evan and Liana a big welcome and wish them luck for their Paris adventure.
