Judo Connect

Choosing the right platform for a judo club's online presence is crucial for its growth and community engagement. While Facebook is a popular and versatile social network, Judo Connect offers specific advantages tailored to the needs and aspirations of judo clubs. Here are three main reasons why Judo Connect is a better choice for a judo club compared to using Facebook as their primary social network:

Regarding our Fighting Fitness class. We've been approached by a few people who would like to workout at home and not infront of a crowd. If anyone is interested in this please message me as I can arrange a zoom session for everyone who would like to join us! 🏆🤜🤛🔥

4 years ago this weekend, I was introduced to Michihiro Omigawa online as we were both trying our hardest to keep judo alive throughout covid. We had our first zoom session from his dojo in japan. In the past 4 years, our club have trained at Neo dojo on our last tour in 2023 , my family have spent time with him in April of this year in Yokohama and he is now in Scotland at our dojo, sharing the same passion for judo. Some good things have come out of the covid years, namely friendships.

There is no sport like judo.

Massive well done to Dot and Dave for having completed all their theory and katas in order to move to black belts next year. The reason for the wait is because non competitive judoka must have a minimum of 5 years as brown belts.

However, this is no easy task at any age and as many of you know, there have been many 1-1s and Zoom sessions in order to get to this point.

Dot took up the sport at 70 years old after accompanying her grandson to a session in Corton, while Dave was just a random painter at Dominic’s house who got chatting once he saw the trailer in the driveway.

Great News!!

Following today’s announcement by the Scottish Government, we are reopening indoor sessions for our under 18 year old members from next week in our Castle Douglas venue.

Unfortunately, our Dumfries classes will have to wait until Tuesday 18th May, as we cannot get into the hall in DG1 due to the election. If anyone aged under 18 from our Dumfries classes would like to train in Castle Douglas until then, we will try to book extra hall time, so please let me know.

Our weekly zoom class will move from Wednesday to Tuesday as of next week, due to the Castle Douglas classes being

This week I was asked to do a zoom chat with the amazing Dawn Willock to talk about the club and our good retention and recruitment record. It was a real pleasure to talk about the success of the club to date and the thoughts and processes behind it. The people in and around our club make our club such a special place. I can’t wait to see what we do from our new home in 5 weeks. If you get a little time, please give the interview a listen.

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

In our Zoom classes we have been exploring the relationship between judo training and other sports. We have learnt how arm wrestlers use strategy to out play their opponent, as we do in judo.

Keep practicing your arm wrestling knowledge in order to improve your technique, as well as strengthen your fingers, wrists and forearms. 💪

More online training this Thursday at 6:30pm and Saturday at 9:30am. Make sure you have the meeting ID and password, and log in 5-10 mins before the lesson starts. Any problems just text Rich (coach and IT support 🤓).

Hi Comberton judokas!
📢There’s no training this week (half term) ⚠️ but we thought we’d send you a couple of videos on the O Goshi (major hip) throw we looked at last session.
👉 The first video is a zoom into some details of how to make the classic throw effective by the great Neil Adams.
👉 The second is from the awesome Kayla Harrison showing how she readjusts her entry in competition to make it more effective (note how she already controls the space between her and her opponent ready for entry by pulling in the arm around the back).
👉 We’re going to be looking further into opportunities w
