1. What inspired you to get involved with judo?
When I was a child, my mum decided to take my older brother and me to a local judo club because we were constantly fighting at home. She hoped it would help channel our energy in a more positive direction.

18 days to go!
Will you be watching the judo at the Olympics?
It is a great way to help judo players of all ages see the sport and what can be achieved from competing, refereeing, time keeping and even a coach on the side lines!
Many of the club coaches will be tuning in to some or all of the matches! 🥋
Koka Kids Junior Judo Magazine has created an amazing booklet that tells you which groups are fighting when and helps you record the medals 🏅
There are even questions about judo as you go through it too, so a fun way for your child to interact with the sport and see what they notice to

Jasper aka Jazzy J is the embodiment of resilience 💪🥋💚💛🖤
At a recent competition, Jazzy took the opportunity to compete in TWO groups, including one with just BIGGER opponents 👌🤩
This meant that he was the ONLY judoka who won TWO medals on the day 🥉🥉

Look at all of these lovely new grades 💪🥋❤️💛🧡
Chairman Ross visited the club to oversee the children’s display of their technical requirements for their next grades 👌🥋🤩
In addition, the children also displayed their understanding of the rules of Judo by referring a couple of contests between their friends 🧑⚖️👩⚖️🥋

Today we had 6 of our Judoka take part in their first REDS session of the year. It was a tough day but all of them rose to the occasion 😊
Somewhere in this picture you’ll find Tyla, Ashlie, Izzy, Nate, Keanu and Will…who knew that it was so hard to get 6 teenagers stood in the same place while in the same building 🤣🤣

Our monthly visit to Redruth Judo Club 🥋💪
A massive thanks to the Redruth gang for allowing Steve and Tyla to take the junior and senior sessions tonight 🤩
Reciprocity and community are such important factors in Judo: visiting other places to experience different coaches and other judoka is a must! 🥋
If your child is interested in going the next time we visit, please let Carrie know 🤔

What a day!!!
So many of our Sho grades and Red and Yellow belts were having their first experience of competitive judo and they all smashed it!!
Steve, Tyla-Jane and Amber are all very proud of you…Tavistock next anyone?!?! 😃
Thank you to my band of mummies who pulled it out of the bag on Mother’s Day (next time I’ll instruct you to keep the tea coming 🤣)
Also a big thank you to Tyla and David for helping me out by running the table and to Ross, Mike and Amber for being our referees 😊
Time for bed me thinks 🤣

The next Western Area Development Day has been confirmed for Sunday May 7th.
Suitable from 7 years up this is a great opportunity for our judoka to experience sessions at a slightly different level as well as training with new people.
It would be great for parents to attend as they usually have something for them too but I’ll be taking Tyla so I’ll have 3 spaces in the car if needed 😊

A fab night at Par last night!!
Lots of shiny new belts and stripes were given out in our latest grading (I’ll post pics next week…how do you forget to take pictures of the first class?! 🤦🏻♀️😆) Well done guys!!
Most importantly of all one of our assistant coaches, Amber was awarded her black belt after successfully passing her technical Dan grading last week. Ross even came to embarrass her about how long he’s known her 😆
CONGRATULATIONS AMBER!!

Last session for our first 2 classes and it was party time. No pics available because what happens at the Par Christmas Party stays at the Par Christmas Party!! 😉😆
It did also mark the end of a week of torture for all of the kids as Steve had graded them all last week and made them wait all that time to find out if they’d passed!! Such a cruel coach!! 🤣🤣
Last senior session is next week and then we’re done until 9th January.
Have a great Christmas everyone!!🎄🎅🏼🧑🎄
