O-Guruma (large wheel)

A refresher of the throw the seniors were training at the weekend. O-Guruma is a big throw and is preferred in the higher-weight categories.

1, Just as your opponent begins to step forward with their right foot, lead their movement to break their balance to their front right corner.
2, At the same time turn your left and stretch your right leg straight across your opponent's lower abdomen or upper thighs,
3, Lift them by swinging your right leg up and back while twisting and pulling down with both hands to turn them over your leg.

Strathkelvin Open

Everyone had a great time today at the Strathkelvin Open. Three players hadn’t competed in many years so it was great experience for them.

There were eight members in total from Edinburgh Judo, two not competing but supporting with everything they had. Everyone was really supportive and engaged and all had a great laugh and good time from start to finish.

It’s been a hard journey - 5 trips to St Albans involving early starts and late finishes. Eden is now a level 2 club coach fast tracking past level 1. Since January she has been taking both sessions at Kumo so the achievement is hardly surprising.
A big thank you to Keith Merrick and Sam Dunkley who conducted a fantastic course and as an observer I was privileged to a wonderful refresher update.
Of course I have to also say another big thank you to Joe Nunn who assessed Eden and I much appreciated his useful comments.

ICENI Taekwon-do's Independent ITF journey began with big attendances at our Monday and Thursday classes last week. Mr and Mrs B preparing students for their 1st Independent ITF belt grading on Monday 25th March.
