A great weekend’s judo was had at the Kent International. Always a brilliantly hosted event, attracting not only home nation players, but a good contingent from Europe.

Pinewood players always turn up and show fortitude, resilience, respect and great judo, it’s always a proud moment when our players step out on the mat.

A good medal haul by a number of players, and some invaluable experienced gained by all. Success isn’t measured just by medals, but also by the lessons learned that we take back in to training.

Congratulations to Head Coach Daniel Hankinson as he tonight passed his technical skills theory exam for 2nd Dan! 🙌

This is after winning 5 fights on the day this past weekend to earn the competitive part of his 2nd Dan! 💪

A massive thank you also goes to Joe Burns of Club 62 Blackburn for acting as examiner and Christian Poutain for being a fantastic demo partner; acting as uke for Dan's assessment! 👏

Big weekend for two of our England Squad players. Jack and Charlotte are competing in the European Junior Cup in Birmingham. Attracting top players from all over the continent, it’s going to be a proud weekend for Pinewood Good luck to you both!

Congratulations to our FIV children, who performed in their production of "I'm a 9-Year-Old... Get Me Out of Here!" this week.

From the school dinner surprise to special memories and all the 'cringe'-worthy moments, the children created a show that was full of laughter and excitement.

It was clear to see that they had worked exceptionally hard on their singing, dancing, and acting, and we'd like to thank the wonderful FIV team for supporting them along the way.

It was our pleasure to support the PECT Eco Schools Awards today with a workshop on extracting DNA from fruit and the presentation of the ARU Peterborough Award for Sustainability.

The vast range of activities taking place in our local schools is astounding. It's exciting to see the enthusiasm and commitment of our young people.

Voting was conducted through a positional voting system with points awarded to each participant through the online audience ballot and the five jury members representing the competing universities 🗳️

Congratulations to one of our own, Greg Lewis, who has been awarded his 3rd Dan by Stuart Otani acting president of the BJC.
It was tonight presented to Greg by Sensei Tony Underwood 7th Dan, in the presence of the Midland Area ATO Sensei Ron Knapper 5th Dan, and members of Mercia Judokwai and Warwick University Judo Club.
