With deep regret but in accordance with the UK Government response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close the club.

We will review and monitor the situation on a daily basis and will confirm a reopening date for the club following UK Government and Public Health England guidance.

Prior to reopening, the dojo will go through a deep clean process in readiness for the return of all our members and visitors.

Dear Parents and Students
Following an extensive review of Health and Safety protocols at the AWE sports and social club, I am pleased to announce the Management Committee plan a phased reopening of the sports facilities / bar and restaurant.
The Judo Club will reopen as normal from next Monday 24 July. The Wednesday classes will resume on the first Wednesday in September. There will be no judo tomorrow night, Wednesday 19 July.
At this time it is not clear when the bar and restaurant will reopen, therefore until advised otherwise the entrance to the Judo Club is restricted to the Gym entrance

Class Cancellation

Due to COVID-19 and information specific to our club, we have decided to cancel all classes until further notice. We will review this decision on a weekly basis. Please check back after 17:00 on Fridays.

Toby initiated a bit of a review of the Tokei on-line presence as we have changed a bit; its now Judo and BJJ obviously.

Its proved a bit tricky and bureaucratic to change stuff and move stuff over. We have therefore created a new page and will start posting to 'Tokei Judo and BJJ' from now.

I will try to delete the Facebook Group and we will suspend / archive the Facebook Page in due course.

CLASS TIME CHANGE

Monday nights will now be 1900-2000 at the pickaquoy centre, rather than the two hour session. Costs will be reviewed appropriately.

Monday 25th September the class is in the arena, but thereafter all sessions are in the Quayside suite until the end of this term on 11th December.

Hi all the club chairman has taken the sensible option to close the building after a deepclean at 6pm tonight Tuesday. Closure will be reviewed on 22 March and then weekly. All are welcome to help with cleaning and general tidy up.

Following the new guidelines set out by the government regarding the coronavirus or COVID-19 the club have taken the decision to suspend all sessions until further notice.

The club has a responsibility to its members and the general public to keep them safe.

We will continue to monitor the situation and review the suspension of sessions on a weekly basis. Please keep an eye out for any updates.

Review of 2023
We had a somewhat bizarre year with injuries. We had Eden battle to fitness from a shoulder injury only for Tia to suffer the same (almost) injury.
In William, Toby, Jemima,Ned, Noah, Elicia and Joe we have young players fighting on the outside circuit with success.
The most welcome return of Tom, Eden and Reece to competition was a boost to our already active seniors Alfie, Ben and Oscar.
In June Denise officiated at the European Junior Cup in Walsall establishing another first for the club.

2023 Senior Players Christmas Meal

As the year draws to a close it was great to have such a well attended senior players Christmas meal, expertly hosted by Ollie, Dawn & Pierre at the Horse & Groom in Bittaford.
A very enjoyable evening was had by all, reviewing our many achievements of 2023, making plans & looking forward to 2024 & sharing Judo stories from years gone by - great food, great beer & great company = great evening :)

Saif the father who is a whitebelt competed in the Open Belt Masters Category where he faced 3 blackbelt opponents from different clubs all over the country. His first match with Mr Eroma of Central Judo Club went well after throwing the latter with his osoto gari but he lost in his 2nd match with Mr Borja of Baguio city.
