Once children reach the Manor House (FV-FVIII), they are timetabled to 4 hours of English per week.
In FV, they spend the year focusing on topics such as persuasive speech, performance poetry, and narrative writing. They continue to develop their comprehension skills, and are introduced to the 'point, evidence, explain' technique, to enhance their work.
In FVI, descriptive and creative writing is explored, along with writing styles such as instructional texts, report writing, and formal letters. In the summer term, the children take a look at revision and examination techniques, using C.E

Today on Wednesday 28th February 2024 marks ten years since I first started ‘Jake Borrett’s Writing Blog’.
When I began, I set out with the aim that if I was able to help one person feel less alone in the world then it was worth sharing my experiences of what it is like to live with Crohn’s disease and dyspraxia, and then later, with anxiety and depression.
Since 2014, I have written lots of poetry, short stories, scripts and articles exploring what it is like to live with hidden disabilities and mental health conditions. I have had the opportunity to speak
