Once children reach the Manor House (FV-FVIII), they are timetabled to 4 hours of English per week.

In FV, they spend the year focusing on topics such as persuasive speech, performance poetry, and narrative writing. They continue to develop their comprehension skills, and are introduced to the 'point, evidence, explain' technique, to enhance their work.

In FVI, descriptive and creative writing is explored, along with writing styles such as instructional texts, report writing, and formal letters. In the summer term, the children take a look at revision and examination techniques, using C.E
