Next up of our seniors…. Monty!

Monty joined us at the end of 2023 (literally the last session of the year!) but has quickly become a regular member of the club joining extra sessions, circuits alongside our regular training times.

Monty is keen to learn and has an interest in judo and its background as well as studying the techniques he’s learning. We took Monty up to Glasgow to enter his first competition (a 5 mat area event with players from across Scotland and England) where he smashed it, winning a bronze medal and experiencing a re-fight after three players in his group ended on the

John Watt has been a member of Bella for many years whilst also running his own Glasgow Judo Club and coaching Strathclyde Uni Judo Club also. During that time he has also taken his coaching pathway to University and held the position of Senior Examiner.
John popped in last night for a session and we were able to present him with his Commemorative Medal.

Yesterday some of the players attended a mix training session in glasgow . The past two weeks we have attended various sessions with others club to help some of the children step outside their club environment . The athletes have mixed very well and I have seen a different side of the children .

This has been a fantastic year for the club and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved🫶🏻

In January we hosted the inter club festival in Bishopton for under 12s. This has been a great year for the younger team with the completion of all grand prixs, the All Stars and Judoscotland Keizoku competition. They also participated in a variety of development competitions.

Today I helped Shettleston Judo deliver a Nage -No- Kata course at ProJudo's Glasgow city centre dojo. As always coaches Alex, Paul and Chris put on a first class event. In addition to expanding our knowledge of Kata we helped raise funds to support Chris in quest for a second world title..

Entry is now closed for our event on the 3rd of March. We are currently checking all entries and will be publishing weigh in times soon. Anyone on our waiting list should keep an eye on their email inbox.

This Halloween, your clubs have been cooking, and on Wednesday the 1st of November we'll be coming together for a Halloween Pub Crawl! 🎃

Starting at Bank Street from 7pm, we'll split off into families and visit some of our favourite pubs around Glasgow, before finishing off the night in Hive! 🕺

Families will be made up of people from different clubs, so plenty opportunity to make some new friends!

If you don't really fancy the crawl, that's fine too! We have Bank Street booked all night so you can still chill and get to know the other clubs. 😎

After a long weekend away down in Walsall at the BUCS Judo Championships GUJC came away with some fantastic results. The mens team fought hard to retain their Bronze medal from 2023 and managed to do so. Good performance in individuals also. Full results below, and well done to all!
