A fantastic experience, and money was raised for charity!
On Sunday, Fighting Fitness Judo members took to the waters and threw themselves into Dragon Boat Racing to raise money for Woking Hospice.
The day was great fun!
Our team commented,
“It was fantastic! I’m so glad I took part!”
”It was really nice experience! I loved taking part. Well done, everyone.”
“Thank you for organising. I had a brilliant day.”
We didn’t win the race, but everyone did laugh when one of the officials commented, “There is a lot of power in this boat, but it would help if you could synchronise!” 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Team SJC was at Southern Area Development Competition in Woking today, which was the first time they ran this event and overall it was really positive.

It's a busy day for the dragons tomorrow as Lucy Robinson competes at the Junior European Cup in Birmingham under the watchful eye of Ealing Judo Club
Closer to home 24 mini dragons have their 1st taste of competition at the SA Development event in Woking with Richard, Peter and Josh leading the team and our new officials are under exam for their refereeing awards.

We're excited that our team raised £428 for Woking & Sam Beare Hospice by participating in the Dragon Boat Races! 🐉🎉
The Hospice does fantastic work helping people with end-of-life care and supporting their families.
The Dragon Boat Races were challenging but fun; our team gave it their all. Thank you to everyone who donated and cheered us on – you made a big difference!

Friday saw the launch of our Judo for Rugby initiative as we welcomed Effingham and Leatherhead RFC to the Woking dojo!
Thanks to Chris King for helping us organise this dedicated judo for rugby session.
In the session, we covered using your body more effectively on the floor, falling and tackling.
The guys were really open and eager to learn!
After watching their boys play rugby, Vince and Sam were inspired to create these sessions!
Judo offers many transferable and complementary skills for sports, as well as increased confidence in tackling and falling.
We’ve now dedicated one Fr

It was great to welcome the 1st Knaphill Beaver Scouts to our Woking Dojo!
The children had great energy and listening skills! The team did so well that we covered much more than usual in a taster class!
They nailed the Japanese words:
Hajime (Go/Start), Mate (Stop) and Rei (Bow)
Learned the aim of judo = to score an ippon.
They had a chance to wrestle their partners on the ground and learned a hold-down (pin) called mune-gatame!
Finishing with break falls on the crash mat and a game of land and sea!
All of that in just 50 minutes!

Many hands make light work! Over 600 mats moved from Dartford Judo Club to our new home for Southern Area events at Woking Leisure Centre. Massive thanks to Dayne for putting up with me for most of the day!
