Choosing the right platform for a judo club's online presence is crucial for its growth and community engagement. While Facebook is a popular and versatile social network, Judo Connect offers specific advantages tailored to the needs and aspirations of judo clubs. Here are three main reasons why Judo Connect is a better choice for a judo club compared to using Facebook as their primary social network:

Check out this write up from the European Judo Union (EJU) about Shohei Ono, double Olympic Champion and three times world champion, based in Edinburgh at EdinburghJudo for the next 18 months.

Shohei has spent the last week delivering seminars both in Switzerland and across France to thousands of judoka, with his personal coach Shinji Hosokawa of Tenri university. What a fantastic experience.

They maintain a very strong relationship, which is testament to the many years they have worked together, and mutual respect between athlete and coach, and the bond that creates. It takes a great coac

We have the privilege of welcoming back Mr Shinji Hosokawa to our dojo this Wednesday! 🤩 He was last with us in Edinburgh when he first arrived with Shohei back in August 2023 and we had a great time learning from him.

An Olympic and world champion himself, Mr Hosokawa coached Shohei Ono, three-time world and double Olympic champion and Tadahiro Nomura, a three-time Olympic champion. We are very fortunate to have him with us again for the two senior sessions; an incredible opportunity for all of us to gain valuable insights and learn from a coach of such a high calibre!

What an honour to be joined once again by Shinji Hosokawa (1984 Olympic Champion + 1985 World Champion, coach to Shohei Ono and Tadahiro Nomura) along with Jimmy Purves (6th dan, coach to Billy Cusack)!

We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from such esteemed figures in judo, with Mr Hosokawa providing invaluable technical insights for our senior members across two excellent sessions.

Thank you for joining us and we hope to welcome you back again soon!

The new Lidl at Meadowbank Retail Park opened on Thursday, with the support of some of our judoka, coaches and our huge club mascot Obi the Highland Coo. There were smiles all round as judoka helped to cut the ribbon at 8am.

Big thanks to Lidl for donating a huge amount of bananas, apples and pears and bottles of still water. Members and parents were delighted to leave the club with extra fruit, and children attending our holiday camp added extra fruit to their already healthy lunches and snacks.

Lidl will certainly be well supported by our staff and many members!

My Visit to Edinburgh
By Dr. Kamitani

During the week commencing 26th March 2024, we had the honour of hosting Dr. Takeshi Kamitani, the national team doctor for All Japan Judo. It was a fantastic experience to spend time in his company and extend a warm welcome to him at Edinburgh Judo.

Mr. Kamitani was gracious enough to compose a brief piece in his own words, reflecting on his stay in Edinburgh.

“I visited the Edinburgh Judo Club on Friday 1st March.

Currently, I am a university professor in Japan and an orthopaedic surgeon. Since 2007, I have been working as the national team doctor fo

British Schools Championships 2024
Sheffield, England

Six Edinburgh Judo players took to the tatami over the weekend, experiencing 18 contests among them.

Over the weekend, we travelled together, shared an Airbnb, played pool (if that’s what you can call it), and table tennis, cooked, revised, sang karaoke on the bus, and warmed up and fought with everything we had. We had lots of laughs, a few tears and bumps, but most of all, we had fun and learned a lot.

For some players, this was a big step out of their comfort zone, and for others, a significant test against stronger opponents. Everyon

Huge congratulations to EdinburghJudo’s newest 1st Dan, Ethan, he successfully completed his line up yesterday at the JudoScotland National Kyu and Dan Grading in Ravenscraig. Having already passed the theory exam he can officially wear his black belt with pride.

Both Aidan and Gregorz also won their line ups with some lovely judo, these guys now need to complete the theory side before we see them on the mat with their new belts.

Great effort from Archie, Ash, Dan, Evan, Josh, Kirsty and Patrick with both points and valuable experience gained on their journeys to becoming black belts.

FIGHTING FILMS SPORTIF INTERNATIONAL 2022
POSTPONED to 8th - 11th April 2023
COVID cases World wide are restricting travel for many countries. This means that many of the nations who would have attended the FF Sportif International now cannot travel. Without quality international representation the organisers feel that the event does not match the expectations of a TRUE international and the standards set by previous Sportif events. So after careful consideration the event is now rescheduled for 8th-11th April 2023. We look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh in 2023.
