Core Judo Championships

Alana started the day with a strong performance winning 4/5 contests to walk away with the silver medal🥈.

In the boys team event, our two groups were each awarded well deserved bronze medals.

The lightweights William and Alvaro, won all of their matches by Ippon and even threw in some lightning fast Tai Otoshis. ⚡

Ajai, Juliao and Yahya all threw, won fights and had some incredibly close contests with players of a heavier weight category. 👏🥉

So very proud of my team today!

Today was the USA National Championships, held in Ontario, California. A well organized tournament with some 400 competitors from all over the country.
Hollywood contributed with 8 competitors.
KEVIN, MILAN and SCOTTY fought a few matches each. They won some and lost some, no medals this time….
BRIAN took Gold in the masters lightweight, as usual. Congrats.
CAROLYN fought in a higher weight category, she won most of her matches and was finally awarded Bronze.

What a contrast on the mat today. In attendance Sophie Cox, British Lightweight champion, European medallist 4 times and twice Olympian. Also on the mat and an adaptive judo player Martin Muir with his judo friend Mike Draper, from Portland and long Eaton judo clubs.
On the mat, Fred Pilgrim a long time adversary of mine and good friend for over 60 years, just had confirmation of his IJF 7th Dan. Congratulations Fred from all at RJC.
