Look at this. Coach John looks like he actually done some judo tonight 😂
With our Dojo closed for the evening some of us took the opportunity to pay a visit to Clyde Judo Club.
I have to say we were treated like one of the family.
Thanks to Susie,Paul and Willie for a great session.
Their players are a credit to them and very forgiving of us old folk 😂 ❤️🥋😁👏👍

Tonight we are visiting old friends.
Tommy Tonner was John’s first judo Sensei, mentor and now a lifelong friend. John was only 6 years old and John was the first judoka that Tommy coached to achieve his 1st Dan (black belt).
Tonight they look a bit different but the judo chat is still going strong.
Judo creates lifelong friendships.

We need to say a huge well done to Sophie today. Sophie competed in the Scottish National Closed competition. This superstar got a silver!
As you can see, Sophie also picked up an injury and has a dislocated elbow. She has since had surgery to pop it back into place and will have a significant recovery time.
This is one of those horrible risks of contact sports and we know how hard is for competitors and their families. We are all thinking of Sophie (and parents Jean and David) as she recovers. We’re behind you all the way.

So tonight our seniors had our night out. Sensei being the ‘lovely’ guy he is, told them it’s a 70’s theme…it is not. Hats off to our crowd, the best bunch ever.

Amazing work today by Ryan as he walked his line up.
This qualifies Ryan to receive his 1st Dan grade.
We could not be more proud of Ryan - he has amazed us since he walked through the door 4 years ago at 14 years old, never having tried judo before, and now here he is on the cusp of receiving his black belt.
