With our Dojo closed for the evening some of us took the opportunity to pay a visit to Clyde Judo Club.
I have to say we were treated like one of the family.
Thanks to Susie,Paul and Willie for a great session.
Their players are a credit to them and very forgiving of us old folk 😂 ❤️🥋😁👏👍

Tonight we are visiting old friends.
Tommy Tonner was John’s first judo Sensei, mentor and now a lifelong friend. John was only 6 years old and John was the first judoka that Tommy coached to achieve his 1st Dan (black belt).
Tonight they look a bit different but the judo chat is still going strong.
Judo creates lifelong friendships.

What a day for our Superstars at the Bonsai Kyoso today. Congratulations to all our judoka - the judo we seen today was honestly some of the best we’ve ever seen from you. An extra well done to those of you who were taking part in competitive judo for the first time - we know it’s nerve wracking but you handled it amazingly.

Fab turnout for both kids and seniors tonight. Unexpected for September weekend.
We also hear a miracle happened. Someone threw the sensei - caught him properly with a counter throw and put him on his 🍑

We need to say a huge well done to Sophie today. Sophie competed in the Scottish National Closed competition. This superstar got a silver!
As you can see, Sophie also picked up an injury and has a dislocated elbow. She has since had surgery to pop it back into place and will have a significant recovery time.
This is one of those horrible risks of contact sports and we know how hard is for competitors and their families. We are all thinking of Sophie (and parents Jean and David) as she recovers. We’re behind you all the way.

Kanō Jigorō Shihan (嘉納 治五郎, 10 December 1860 – 4 May 1938) was a Japanese educator, athlete, and the founder of Judo.
