Well done to all of our guys who attended the Masters Kyu & Dan Grading at the weekend!
Everyone showed good understanding of what we learn at the club, points were earned towards their next grade and there was loads of positives all round ๐๐ฅ

Today club coaches Nicky and Scott were down at Merchiston Castle School running a โJudo for Rugbyโ session as part of the schoolโs Summer Rugby Camp.

Last Wednesday was Liam and Matthewโs last session with us before they took to the seas on HMS Queen Elizabeth again.

PortyJudo is launching soon under the experienced guidance of our coach Nick Thwaits. Nick has been a key figure in our community for years, and weโre excited to have him leading this new journey. He will be joined by some of our other dedicated coaches.

We are proud to be part of a new initiative from FabLittleBag and JudoScotland that provides free and easy-to-access period products for the judo community!
Periods can sometimes affect someone's ability to partake in sport (especially an unexpected one!), so by having accessible products within the club, we hope to give our members some extra confidence to train and break the stigma around periods ๐ช

Following our judo session with royalnavyjudo, Liam and Matthew took us on a very informative tour of HMS Queen Elizabeth.
It was great learning about all of the different features of the ship and how the crew work to keep everything operational. We got to get our hands on the navigation bridge, had a race on the flight deck and a quick game of darts too!

Congratulations to EdinburghJudoโs newest 1st Dan, Finn T ๐
Finn received the final points required for his black belt back in March and successfully completed his theory exam down in South Shields at the weekend.
Finnโs consistency and increased commitment to training over the last year has shown itself through his recent results in competition and now in achieving his black belt. We look forward to seeing Finn continue to work hard on the mat, in the gym and putting in the time to develop his judo further as a 1st Dan - the real work starts now!

Our Festival of Judo features inter-club randori and mini-matches for young judoka to experience a taste of competition in a relaxed and supportive environment. ๐ช
With two sessions for children aged 5-8yrs and 9+yrs, this event is suitable for those looking to develop their judo skills whilst having fun and making new friends! ๐ค
There are very limited spaces available, so get in touch with us to book your childโs place to avoid disappointment.

Another busy and very sweaty senior randori session last night.
Masa, a friend of Shohei, joined us for the evening and he got involved in every practice with our guys ๐ช We hope you enjoyed the training Masa and have a good visit!
It was also Quentinโs last session with us after 9 months in Edinburgh. We wish you all the best in your next endeavour Quentin and you're always welcome back in the future ๐ซ๐ท๐ค๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ

Patrick, AKA โPaddy the Baddyโ, gained the final 20 points required for his black belt at the Clyde Grand Prix event last Sunday.
Patrick completed his 1st Dan theory over a year ago and recently started competing again, taking bronze in the -73KG category after a good day of contests at the Clyde Grand Prix.
Over the last few months Patrickโs judo has been developing through consistent training and putting his all into every session. He is a great competitor, speaks to his opponents whether he wins or loses and is very responsive to mat side coaching.
Patrick is now looking forward to c
