What an action packed day for our intrepid fighters who gave it their all today at BJC Open National Championships in Kettering.
With the support of coaches, family and friends and fellow competitors they all took it intense competition atmosphere in their stride and applied what they trained for. Hours of hard graft, sweat and muscle memory coming together for just a couple of minutes of complete focus.
In total Shudan bagged a total of 2x Silvers 🥈 ( Erin & David ) and 3x Bronzes ( Oliver, Oliver and Matt )🥉
Special mention to Phil who was competing for the very first time never stopped f

There's been a lot happening at the club over the past few days.
First our new mats arrived, paid for in part by our members fund raising, and they're now neatly stacked waiting for our big spring clean next bank holiday so they can laid out in a refreshed hall.
Then yesterday while the kids were hard at work, more parents volunteered their time during the junior class to help tidy up the hall, with the upstairs room being vaccumed, swept and mopped, and the weeds pulled up from the front of the building.
Tonight, we've had the first session of an invitation only beginners course organised

Congratulations to head coach Dave Baldwin!
During a visit last night by 6th dan Tony Jones, chairman of the AJA East Midlands area and assistant National Coach, Dave was awarded his AJA 4th dan.
Tony came to visit the club to see what we do, then stayed for the start of our monthly randori night after presenting Dave with his certificate.

On Friday (April 5) members of our Wellingborough Neighbourhood Policing Team are joining partners for a community clean-up event on the Hemmingwell estate. Volunteers are very welcome, with lunch provided and an Easter egg for children too. The event will run from 9am to 5pm and will be centred from the Hemmingwell Skills and Community Centre. As a non-profit judo club run by volunteers, the sport is our reason for being and we've built a family from our members.
Our coaches have decades of teaching experience between them, from judo and other various martial arts, to personal protection training. They're insured and licenced, with DBS checks and current safeguarding training.

Three weeks running they've done us proud!
We're still counting medals from yesterday, but more importantly, everyone tried their hardest and had a great time! We couldn't ask for more.

For the third weekend running, the junior students from Shudan Wellingborough Judo Club have been successful in winning medals at competition; this time at the Amateur Judo Association East Midlands Area Closed Championship, in East Shilton, Leicester, on Sunday February 4th.

A hard fought day today for Matty at the British Schools Championships in Sheffield.
Five fights, three wins, two loses with the last one going into golden score, and some beautiful throws along the way.
5th place overall, but gold medal in our eyes!
