Many of you won’t know that Sensei Llewellin has begun a journey to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and entered a competition today. Despite being a beginner and having not competed in judo for about 40 years, he had to fight in a more experienced division, so a huge challenge. He also fought in a group aged nearly 20 years younger than him! He had a some tough fights and learned lots but had a great time… here’s a short clip that shows his judo is still sharp 😉🥋bonus points if you name the throw

Thanks so much to Sensei Paul Thomas for running a fantastic judo session for our jujitsu juniors at Yawara Kwai North Bristol. William was awarded student of the week by Sensei Paul.

Tora Budo Kai is turning 30 years old on the 16th September 2023. Friends, family, students, coaches past and present are more then welcome to come and help us celebrate. We will have a morning of Martial arts for juniors and seniors followed by food, awards and a social opportunity to get together. Please save the date.

Our Jujitsu club at North Bristol Rugby Club is starting up again tomorrow as the Sensei’s have now returned from holiday.
For those so are missing training judo or jujitsu the junior session is 9.30-10.30 and seniors train 10.30-11.30 all are welcome.

I hope you are well and have settled nicely back into training after the festive break?
As you may know, Tora Budo Kai is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), registered with the Charities Commission. We have a written constitution which describes how the charity is to be run.
Each year we must have an Annual General Meeting. This is an opportunity for the members to vote for new Trustees. Our constitution allows for up to 12 Trustees, serving for a 3-year term.
There are currently four Trustees. We are not seeking to a

More good news, Sensei Chris Sole 4th Dan Jujitsu from Yawara Kwai Redditch will be visiting NBRFC dojo this Saturday. Juniors start 9.30am, seniors start 10.30am.
Then the following Saturday the 15th, same time same place Sensei Paul Thomas will be running a judo session for the juniors followed by a Boxing masterclass for Seniors. (T-shirt and Gi bottoms for that session).
You are all welcome to both Saturdays.

If you have pads and gloves feel free to bring them with you, don’t worry if you don’t, we have spares for you to use.
