Monday Motivation. Another Gold for Stafford Judo Club! A good performance by Dave Benson who weighed in just 0.4kg into the U73s went on to win gold after a hard fought final going into golden score.

Sweat just everywhere. A tough randori last night at Stafford Judo Club. But a great opportunity to seal in a few more essential rounds and opportunity to develop that all important aerobic capacity.

Well done to coach Dave Benson who managed to secure a Gold in the Northern Area Open Championship. Fighting a weight class above in u73s Dave was able to show case his tenacity and dynamic judo.
The pool itself consisted of a spread of weight classes, ranging from u66kg, u73s and U81kg.
Unfortunately on the first contest against the u81kg judoka. Dave founded it difficult to manoeuvre past the heavy grips and found himself getting hansoku make as a result of evasive action.
The second and third fight found Dave to have regrouped himself dispatching of both GBR back patched athletes in s

Lucas is one of our up and coming juniors and has been putting extra work to develop his competitive judo. Lucas has been staying on for both seniors and the additional randori. Today will be a great opportunity to show case those newly honed skills.

A huge congratulations to Lucas on achieving a bronze medal in his first ever competition. Lucas came against some experienced and bigger opposition. Nevertheless, continued to demonstrate what a resilient and formidable judoka he is developing into having produced some gutsy performances.

A huge well done to all who took part in the grading today. Also a big thank you to Keith Merrick for coming down and grading both Daniel and David. Daniel has now attained his Technical 3rd Dan after a grueling examination and David has achieved the theory element to his competitive 3rd Dan. Great work both.
