Following an exciting year in Pre-Prep 1, our children move on to Pre-Prep 2!

In PP2, the children immerse themselves in a stimulating curriculum that is linked to English, Maths, Science, History, Geography and Art, amongst other subjects. The topic of the Great Fire of London is a particular highlight, where they are transported back in time to 1666 with 'History Off the Page', for a jam-packed workshop. Fun continues around the campfire in Forest School, where children burn a variety of aprons to find the most suitable material for a bakers’ apron!

Pre-Prep 2 is also where independence

Yesterday afternoon, our Reception children took the short walk over to Westbury Community Shop and cafe for a sweet treat!

Each of the children were given £2 to spend in the shop, and were allowed to choose one item from the wonderful display that Mel and her team had put together. They learnt the importance of handling and counting money, and also receiving change from the amount that they had given, putting their classroom maths into action!

After making their purchases, the children headed out onto the lawn to enjoy their treats, ranging from fruit to iced buns!

Our third and final core subject to hone in on, is Maths! Maths isn't just a subject we learn in school, it's a vital part of our daily lives; from cooking and measuring ingredients, to calculating discounts and budgeting, it is everywhere. That is why our Manor House children are timetabled to 3.5 hours per week.

In FV, children focus on topics such as Number and Place Value, Multiplication and Division, Properties of Shape, and Data Handling. It is also highly beneficial for them to have weekly times tables, and mental maths tests. Our FVI children are introduced to BIDMAS, and continue to
