Remembering Akemi Tanaka, who sadly passed away May 27th 2021. 🙏
Akemi Tanaka was the daughter of an old Samurai family and grew up immersed in the traditional arts and culture of Japan. Her name in Japanese meant "Bright and beautiful".
She acted as our Cultural Advisor for many years and supported our Dojo, as we supported her ..
Missed by all who knew her ..

Somethings just have to be done when in Japan 🙂
The Kodokan Judo Institute (公益財団法人講道館), or Kōdōkan (講道館), is the headquarters of the worldwide Judo community. The Kōdōkan was founded in 1882 by Kanō Jigorō, the Founder of Judo, and is now an eight-story building in Tokyo.
