Day 2: Massive congratulations to Louis Plevin who is bringing home a bronze medal in the under 81kgs!
We also saw Tom Barclay compete in the under 81kg, Tom fought really well against some tough opposition.
Our final individual was Peter Childs who had some strong fights and only narrowly missed out on reaching the Bronze medal contest.
You should all be very proud of what you did and achieved today, we are proud of you! 🥋🥋🥋
Next up tomorrow is the Open event where we will be entering a team of 2 individuals. #judo #proudcoach

Day 3
Today saw the Open weight category where Lewis and Louis were representing the Island.
The Open is always a tough draw, and Lewis found this when he lost to someone from the -100kgs in the first round and in the -90kgs in the repercharge. He did amazingly well in both contests against people who were much heavier than him and can be proud of the way in which he fought.
Louis had some strong opposition but made it all the way to the final where he came up against someone weighing 144kgs. Although he was the fitter and better of the two, the weight advantage meant that he unfortunately

Yesterday saw the last Judo event of the week, the Mens team event. Overall the lads placed 5th which is a great result considering Guernsey only had a team of 3 and most had the full 5. Some teams we came up against were already 2 - 0 up before we stepped on the mat.
We also saw Louis collect his Silver medal from the Mens open event the day before.
Really pleased with everyone’s performance throughout the week and proud to be their coach! 🙂🥋🙂🥋

Guernsey Judo has been monitoring the developing circumstances relating to COVID-19 virus.
As Judo is a close contact sport, the Club has seemed relevant advice and have therefore decided to suspended all sessions with immediate effect. We will continue to review the situation and advise when session are back up and running.

Parking: Due to an events going on at EC this Wednesday (25th) and next Wednesday (2nd), there will be no parking available at college. Please park elsewhere on these days. The Odeon car park is the closest.

With immediate effect the club is unfortunately closed until further notice. Hopefully the review of this lockdown in 2 weeks time brings some more positive news. Please keep an eye on this page and your emails for further updates.

OPENING UPDATE
As we enter phase 3 of leaving lockdown today, it should mean that we can get back on the judo mat. However, as this week would be our only session before the Easter holidays, we have taken the decision to not open until after these holidays.
To meet set guidelines we need to clean all the mats (all 200 of them!) and take the spare jackets to be professionally cleaned. Unfortunately we unable to complete this in time.
Our first session back will be Wednesday 21st April.
We hope you all enjoy the Easter break and be able to meet with friends/family that you have perhaps see

After a lot of hard work behind the scenes by Eddie & Becky, we are pleased to announce that Guernsey Judo Club have now been recognised by the Guernsey Sports Commission by receiving the Sports Mark award. This award recognises the high standard of welfare and safeguarding, corporate governance and reflects the fact that we have qualified coaches, safeguarded volunteers and officials. This is a great achievement for all involved in the club! 🥋

We have been closely monitoring the situation regarding storm Ciaran.
In line with the States of Guernsey guidance regarding travelling only when essential we have made the decision to cancel all Judo sessions tomorrow - Wednesday 1 November.

Amazing weekend away competing for Guernsey Judo! 🇬🇬🥋
Huge congratulations to the six-strong team from the Guernsey Judo Club for their medal winning performances at the recent Southern Area Regional Schools Championship. With many of them having to compete up a weight category, the team came away with a fantastic 3 gold and 2 bronze medals.
