A personal statement from me (Ross)
Recently at the Western Area Judo Association AGM, I was voted onto the executive committee as Vice-Chairman. I intend to take this role extremely seriously and I am intending to work very hard for our area.
With this in mind, I have today resigned as Chairman of Drake Judo & Martial Arts. I will retain a seat on our executive board and my coaching and physical volunteering will remain unchanged. My personal role within Drake on the executive side will continue to focus on building relationships with other clubs and martial arts, whilst always focusing on

So DJC has been working with CheckMat Plymouth BJJ for a little bit now and we are starting to see some really good Judo players emerging, balancing the 2 (Judo & BJJ) can be very tricky to start with but the progress has been wonderful
Massive shout outs to Jessica Jennings for assistant coaching with me every week!!
Also shout out to Ricky Bellingham who has shown so much support for the class with his presence and leadership
If you are interested it starts at 6am every Tuesday Morning for an hour (Death Squad)

How do we think Max gets on?
id love a go on this btw
When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

Proud Club Moment!! - we are delighted to announce that our own Olivia Willson has been selected for the RAF Pilot Training Program, beating out a lot of other in the process - She will start training this summer!
Liv joined DJC after attending lunchtime classes at Tavistock College and then progressing to the main class in the evening, she made rapid progress and was soon attending the classes in Plymouth too! a selfless person she gave a lot of her own time including helping to co found the Horrabridge class that we had pre-covid.
She is known to all of our coaches as a funny, quirky, charac

Sunday the 16th of July saw Drake Judo hold our 2nd Club closed competition of the year,
These competitions were created to be able to gently introduce some of our younger players to competition and to help train other volunteers in timekeeping, table officiating and refereeing,
We had over 60 Drake Judo members from Plymouth, Tavistock, Sherford and Par with Bristol conducting their own version last week with 25 Drake Judo members there...
A big thankyou to all the volunteers from all clubs who help to make it happen especially from our Par club and a big thankyou to Tournament Director C

Best part of having a GB full timer as part of your team??
Other full timers come and take sessions for the kids, just because!! 🥰
We were all squished up in the squash courts today thanks to the BJJ Devon Open which kept some people away but those who showed up had a real treat as they had a session with our very own Max Gregory along with Rhys Thompson and Michael Fryer!!
A lot of fun was had all round and Rhys even treated the kids to pictures with his Commonwealth Bronze Medal!!
Thanks guys…look forward to seeing you again soon!!! 😁
