Professor Aled Jones from ARU is advocating for a revolutionary approach: integrating the protection of species and habitats into financial decision-making.

In his recent article for The Actuary, Professor Jones, chair of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries' Biodiversity Working Party, argues that biodiversity loss should be viewed with the same urgency as climate change, proposing that financial values be assigned to natural assets.

With the UK's ecosystems valued at an estimated £1.5 trillion, the economic and health benefits they provide are immense.
