Somerset County Judo training will be hosted by Midsomer Norton Judo Club at the Somer Centre tomorrow, Saturday 30th November.
Juniors (under 16’s) 3:30-5pm

Please note that there will be no midweek sessions this week and that Saturday’s sessions will be the last before the Christmas holidays.
Sessions will start up again on Wednesday 8th January.
It’s been another good year for the club and it wouldn’t have been possible without all of its members so a big thank you to everyone involved with the club.

FRENCH TWINNING EXCHANGE 2020.
2020 sees the twinning exchange between Midsomer Norton Judo Club and A.S. Ambares Judo Club (France) continue and it’s the turn of the English club to visit the French club on this occasion.
The twinning exchange is a great trip where members of the club stay with host families and are involved in a judo training session(s), a judo competition and various day trips and activities which normally includes a disco night.
The club will be flying to France on Thursday 9th April 2020 and return on Tuesday 14th April 2020.

Following the new guidelines set out by the government regarding the coronavirus or COVID-19 the club have taken the decision to suspend all sessions until further notice.
The club has a responsibility to its members and the general public to keep them safe.
We will continue to monitor the situation and review the suspension of sessions on a weekly basis. Please keep an eye out for any updates.

The latest COVID-19 update from the British Judo Association.
We welcome the Government’s announcement today concerning the opening of indoor sporting facilities. This is a very important step on the journey to returning to the sport we love.
We await the full, detailed guidelines from the Government that will enable us to update our existing plans. Once we have this we will communicate with clubs and members to start the process of a safe return to judo.
Please note this announcement does not mark a return to full-contact judo, but will allow clubs to re-open and start that process. Once

Following the latest Government Advice, British Judo have been liaising with Sport England and the DCMS and can confirm that as “organised sports and activities that have been through return to play protocols can continue, as can organised outdoor sports and physical activity events”, as such our BJA guidance has not changed.

The club are looking into reopening and starting up sessions again in line with the guidelines set out by the British Judo Association.

Following the UK Government’s proposal to introduce a four-week national lockdown, judo clubs and venues should prepare to close from this Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December inclusive.
Please note, these lockdown measures are dependent upon a House of Commons vote this Wednesday 4 November and should it pass, judo clubs and venues are likely to be ordered to close from Thursday.
We will continue to seek advice from Sport England, DCMS and other partners, and will share further news on Wednesday with guidance on the actions clubs and venues should take.

Unfortunately due to the Somer Centre currently being used as a vaccination centre, the club will be unable to restart sessions until near the end of May.
As soon as the club knows the exact restart dates we will post an update and inform members.

The club is excited to announce that junior sessions will be restarting in June.
On Thursday 17th June the following sessions will take place:
6-7pm - 5-10 year olds
7-8pm - 10+ year olds
The likely restart of senior sessions will be after the next lifting of restrictions by the government. This is to be confirmed at a later date.
