After a year and a half of no high level judo - Ollie took part in the Eastern Area Senior Ranking event. Sadly it was a quiet event but still some good u60s players in attendance including the current British Silver medalist. Ollie in his own style comfortably took gold…. Videos to follow 😊

Entries are in for the Eastern Area Closed competition - but late entries are being accepted by the organisers for £20 each.
We have also just been invited to a competition at Wymondham - this is a low grade event for anyone aged 8 and over - including seniors - entries need to be in to me - this week please :-)

So results today - many players fought in several groups - golds to Eppy, Fallon, Maia, Ethan, Niamh, Jack, Charlie, silvers to Fallon and Ollie, bronze to Albert - 5th places to Robert and Richard, unfortunately Pullo had to withdraw due to injury, and Aaron through illness. Fallon fought a young girl several weight groups up and was amazing! Eppy her normal ippon self! Ethan fought in several groups winning all with beautiful ippon judo. Maia at just 12 fought in the under 16s AND up a weight group where she won all her contests with ippon - just brilliant resilience from her! Albert was inc

Well done to all our players at the Wymondham invitational comp today - we had a mix of mostly novice and low grades competing against similar opponents. Some great Judo and fantastic throws! Results were golds Jack and Andrew, Silvers Eppy, Jefferson, Ben, Rob and Aaron and bronzes for William, Harvey, Albert, Ethan, Richard, and Robert 😊😊😊

For those competing tomorrow at the Kumo competition - Toyah will be your coach and point if contact 😊. Make sure you have your BJA membership/license card and book. Payment is on the day (unless already paid). Clean white teeshirts etc Weigh in is 9-9.30 - have fun and try and remember the judo we are teaching you 😊😊😊

Massive well done to everyone who competed at the Kumo competition yesterday. Toyah kept me up to date with all the results! I believe final medals were golds to Will, Eppy, Maia and Harvey, silvers to Theo and Toby, and bronzes to Sophie and Harvey.
A few were doing their first ever comp, learning what it is all about takes time and it’s exactly what these competitions are for, developing your judo - so a big well done to everyone!

What a brilliant way to end our judo sessions for the year! Our second mat has simply grown and grown this year and last night we had to stagger the randori for the first time!
Tuesday will be our games night - everyone is welcome from 5.30 - we will go on until 7.30 - when you are welcome to have a drink (timings are flexible) 😊 - please still come in your gi but you may also want a teeshirt
We will start sessions again on Thursday 4th Jan. when we are looking forward to continuing the amazing club community and atmosphere - thank you to all the coaches and everyone else involved with the

All the gradings completed before Christmas have been confirmed so you will receive your new grade in the post direct from the BJA.
There are a couple who’s license/membership had lapsed so these need renewing before I can register the grade (please check).
A small number of you will receive a second grade to get your registered grade up to date.
Now this is complete can you please organise payment asap either by bank transfer to the same as the club fees account (with child’s name as reference) or cash. The costs are £12 for juniors aged between 8 and 16, and £15 for all seniors over 16.

Congratulations to our players at Thetford today. In the Regional Schools qualifiers technically Eppy, Maia and Eppy all took gold, and Pullo was very unlucky to lose the bronze medal contest - meaning a 5th place in a large group. Eppy fought two players in the next Wright group and showed her grit and technical ability, Maia also fought up a weight group against an older higher graded player, she lost two but brilliantly won the last one! Ethan fought in a number of groups and won every single contest with Ippon! All four players will now go on to the British Schools Championships in Sheffie

Next Saturday there is an open Randori session at Ipswich - I would like to get as many of our senior players along to it as possible please as the opportunity for you to get practice against other players will be good timing for your development. I will be there, hopefully with some of our more experienced players as well, and Lucas will be attempting to get his black belt in the dan grading, taking place at the same time....

Good luck to Ethan who is competing at the English Open tomorrow in London. Unfortunately he is a Lone Ranger as our other entries have had to pull out - but very best of luck to Ethan who is competing as a Cadet for the first time 😊

Day one at the British Schools Championships in Sheffield and Ethan takes bronze! The day started with Maia - first time at a big event, youngest in the group and almost certainly the lightest! A great start saw what we thought were two scores, one given, but taken away - the other not given - unfortunately Maia then made a mistake and found an ippon given against her. A tough start, the second contest better but unfortunately she was caught. Her first opponent went on to take bronze, only losing the eventual gold medalist - this was always all about the experience for Maia and I think it show

Day 2 at the British Schools Championships and we just had Eppy competing. The first time competing out of the area and at such a daunting event. With that in mind it was again all about the experience. Her first fight as expected was a nervous one and she was caught for ippon, but said the nerves settled for her second contest which she won with a throw and a hold down! This put her through to the bronze medal contest - unfortunately she was caught early in the ground with a hold down, which was a shame as I think she would have done well if the contest had gone on, so a 5th place for Eppy! H
