Hi all,
THE END OF AN ERA!
After a great deal of soul searching, careful consideration and financial calculation it is with much sorrow that I am announcing:
THE CLOSURE OF ALTON JUDO CLUB.
Ergo, AJC will not re-open in September.
The driving reason behind this decision is the lack of members turning up to practise since the new year; consequently income has fallen dramatically and our continued existence is no longer viable.
Having led AJC since its inception, some 45 years, this has not been an easy decision but all good things must come to an end.
Please, continue with your judo where

Hi One and All
First Off: - Adding my congratulations to Lucy on her splendid achievement of “Silver Medal”; an excellent result, another feather in her cap!
Just entering a competition of any level gets my vote. Stepping onto the tatami is an exciting moment, on your own, no team mates to help directly; facing a wide range of unknowns in the coming bout can be physically and mentally exhausting and that’s before hajime is called! But the experience is worth it.
To gain a medal place is the icing on the cake and as we all know icing is so sweet!!
So!! Consider giving judo competition a go

Hi All,
Sorry for the late submission of this report – life gets in the way of judo sometimes.
Saturday 1 st April, High Wycombe Dan Grading: -
Two of our 1 st kyu senior members took up the challenge, Jon Schoenewolf and Anthony Aquing.
Jon sustained a foot injury and had to withdraw from any further fights so sadly did not add to his
tally of points for his first dan – however I am assured that “he will be back”!
Anthony fared better, in this, his first dan grading; he gained forty points towards his first dan, a
positive result.

Hi All
Due to recently amended schedules from HSDC there will be no judo on Friday 19th May, sorry folks but there is nowt we can do about it. The Alton College drama students are presenting their end of year performance, which is very important to them and has taken a lot of preparation, so we wish them well in their endeavours.

Hi Everyone,
August is upon us which means no judo as our dojo is closed for the summer break - returning September FRIDAY 8TH. Watch this space for any change of date!!
Our last session on the 28th of July was very lively, albeit seniors were a bit light in number.
Juniors – lots of action, standing (tachi waza) as well as groundwork (ne waza) plus lots of laughter and giggling from sensei and fellow coaches in addition to the kids. A noticeable point was, as always, the ways in which the juniors practise with each other, helping and encouraging as well as trying out their own judo knowledg

Hi Everyone,
Blast From The Past!
Receiving positive news from/about past AJC members is always welcome. In that vein - I bumped into a parent of one our juniors from a few years ago. Said junior, Sam Booth, is now at uni and interestingly has taken up judo again. He recently entered his first ever judo comp. and won gold. His dad proudly showed me a video clip of two winning throws and a hold down.
The comment has to be made – “Sam has obviously still got it” and has put into practice what he started to learn during his time with AJC.
Well done Sam, that black belt beckons.
