If you are looking for something to do I. The week of Aboyne Games, remember there is the Junior Games. A chance to try out some of the events held on Games Day.

Open to everyone 5-18 and free of charge.
A fun night for everyone.

Aboyne Junior Games is on Wednesday 31st July at 6pm. Good fun and a chance to try some events. Please come along and support the Juniors.

A very big thank you to everyone who assisted this weekend with the Granite City Grand Prix. To Ultimate Judo and Aberdeen Judo Club for the loan of the additional mats. To all of the volunteers, competitors, spectators, coaches and JudoScotland who attended the event, also our club members and those from Ultimate and Aberdeen who turned out to help with the mat moving and laying. But a particularly huge thank you to our family members who helped all weekend with driving the vans, shifting mats, laying mats and volunteering in different guises we really couldn’t have done it without you all!

If you are travelling to our competition this weekend, please note the following information.

The Sports Village opens at 8.30am for competitors and spectators. There will be no access before this.

Changing rooms 3 & 4 to be used.

Spectator fee is £3.00. Cash is King!

There are various onsite car parks as well as on side streets. Please see our map on JudoScotland website.

This is a wee reminder to all spectators attending The Granite City Championships on 27th May that unfortunately we can only accept cash for the door entry.
Adults will be £5.00 (this will include a free raffle ticket) U16s are free.
The Sports Village on site cafe will be able to accept cards or cash.

That is our Granite City Championship over for another year.

We would like to thank all the competitors, their families, officials, volunteers, Judo Scotland, Stuart Shand Medical and the Centre staff for supporting us. Also to The Holiday Inn at Dyce for their support.

Everyone has played a part in this at some stage over the weekend, but a very BIG thank you really does have to go to Frazer McBeath and Linda McBeath for helping us all weekend to move the mats, set up and take down, we really couldn’t have done it on our own.

We have supported and continue to support the Community Shed in Aboyne and they have asked for our support –

They have applied for funding for battery back up at the Community shed, but this funding will be allocated to the groups which receive the most votes of support from their community!

Listen here to our good friend and fellow judo coach Gordon Mccathie from Ultimate Judo as he speaks about the life skills that martial arts (judo) can bring to your life particularly at a young age. The youngsters may not appreciate of understand this when they are there every week, but in later life they may see how it benefitted them. As Gordon says, a ‘lightbulb moment’.
